The Joyful Heart Foundation focuses on advocating for survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence and child abuse. The foundation was founded in 2004, so they already had an established and active following and presence when they joined Instagram in 2013. Since their introduction into social media, they have only grown and increased their focus and drive.
They currently have over 74.6 thousand followers with just over 2,000 posts. While their posts, on average, don’t have a lot of comments, they are liked by thousands. The point of this organization is to educate and irradicate stereotypes and taboos surrounding these situations. They aren’t necessarily focusing on feedback, rather on getting their message and story out to as many people as they can.
A vast majority of their posts are organically sponsored. However, there has been an influx of engagement (comments, views, etc.) on their paid campaigns. Many of these promoted campaigns have focused on collaborations with other organizations or with certain annual events. The work that The Joyful Heart Foundation has been doing has been recognized by policymakers and various other government officials and organizations. The more that this work is recognized and talked about, the wider their reach will be.
The metric that seems to be prioritized the most based off of their recent posts is viewership. Whether these views directly translate into likes is up to the user, but with the likes that the posts do have, there are many people who see the post in a short time span.
If other metrics want to be improved, there needs to be more effort put into personally engaging with their base. In the case of the comments for example, there appears to be no back-and-forth dialogue within the comments section. If older posts have this same trend there would be no reason for there to be an influx of comments on the more recent ones.
The ultimate goal of their social media posts is to direct their viewers to their website. Their website contains more information with ways to help, support and get involved with the foundation. While the social media posts just have pieces of the whole picture, the website gives a better whole.
